Francis is irritable every morning. Julie takes it personally
Francis and Julie are a couple who have lived together for some time. Their cohabitation takes place without much trouble. Household chores are well divided. Romantic dinners are a source of joy. The neighbors are charming. Routine Netflix and chill evenings with chocolate ice cream fill their needs for sugar, relaxation and entertainment. In appearance, everything is flowing.
But … There is only this annoying tendency to anger that Francis has in the morning when he wakes up. Julie no longer recognizes him: it’s as if he was another man! His face, usually calm and smiling, changes every day at 6.30am into a haughty and misshapen grin that immediately excludes any possibility of communication.
After the alarm clock rings, Francis lifts the covers abruptly. He walks to the bathroom, echoing furious footsteps. He slams the door. He dresses, shaves, brushes his teeth quickly to work and forgets to eat breakfast. And if Julie dares to ask him a quick question, an expression of exasperation inevitably appears on his face.
Every morning Julie doubts herself: “Why doesn’t Frank talk to me? What did I do wrong to make him so angry? Could it be snoring at night that kept him from sleeping well? Could it be an inappropriate word that I would have said the day before? Could it just be that my questions annoy him? “. And the flood of anguished thoughts is unleashed on Julie. And the flood of angry thoughts invades Francis. And tensions set in to potentially deteriorate the relationship …
Bad Morning Mood: Where Does It Come From?
Have you ever woken up on the wrong side of bed in the morning? Or do you know someone who wakes up this way daily, with irritation that sets in with the first few steps out of bed? This attitude that you thought was a part of who you were, might not be as set in the rock as you think. On the contrary, it’s a safe bet that it originates from an imbalance in the digestive system.
The role of food for the digestive system
Is Francis’s daily irritation an intrinsic part of his character or can it be transformed?
Imbalances in the digestive system often have far greater impacts than known physical effects, such as gas or bloating. They can have a major influence on our emotions.
What we eat, when we eat it, how we eat it, all of this has a role to play in our daily well-being. It is quite common for someone who binges on sugar in the evening and skips breakfast in the morning to start the day with irritation. Adjustment in diet and mealtimes is required to improve the quality of life.
